Cut Above Hair & Beauty has been part of the Hastings community for over 50 years. Owner Lynette Tait has been here for 23, and took over the salon 14 years ago with one goal: to create a place where every single client feels looked after.

LYNETTE TAIT
OWNER AND HAIR STYLIST
Lynette has been part of Cut Above for more than 23 years and has proudly owned the salon for the past 14. With over 40 years in the hairdressing industry, she's passionate about creating a welcoming salon where both clients and her team feel supported.
For Lynette, the best part of the job is the people. She's had the privilege of sharing life's special moments with clients, from their very first appointment to their wedding day, and now even cutting their children's hair. Alongside caring for her clients, she loves mentoring her team and watching them grow in confidence and their careers.
KYLIE
EXECUTIVE STYLIST
Kylie has over 17 years of experience and a love for all things hair. She's known for making clients feel confident, relaxed, and a little bit spoiled. Good vibes, great chats, and even better hair days. You'll probably catch her in cowboy boots.
LAUREN
EXECUTIVE STYLIST
Lauren has been with Cut Above for 17 years and is passionate about colour in all its forms, from corrections and creative tones to soft, lived-in looks. Her goal is simple: make you feel amazing when you leave her chair. When she's not in the salon, you'll find her at Mahia Beach with loved ones.
SARAH
EXECUTIVE STYLIST
Sarah has been hairdressing for 29 years and still loves it just as much as day one. She's worked on cruise ships and in the UK, and now calls Hawke's Bay home. She has a soft spot for fine hair, but enjoys every aspect of the craft. When she's not in the salon, she's cheering her kids on from the sidelines.
COURTNEY
EXECUTIVE STYLIST
Courtney is passionate about creating beautiful hair that fits your lifestyle. She loves balayage, foils, transformations, and is especially known for her elegant wedding styles and updos. Outside the salon, she's spending time with her dog Duke, a cheeky cocktail in hand, or making memories with the people she loves.
EDEN
SENIOR STYLIST
Eden is a hairdresser with a passion for beautiful blonde transformations and a love for making people feel their best. For her, it's about making clients feel good inside and out. Outside the salon, you'll find her spending time with family and friends, going for walks, and soaking up life's little moments.
MIKAELA
SENIOR STYLIST
Mikaela is a Senior Stylist with a passion for colour, especially blondes, and a focus on healthy hair that works for your lifestyle. She loves making clients feel comfortable, confident, and excited about their hair at every appointment. When she's not in the salon, she's spending time with the people she loves most.
OLIVIA
EMERGING STYLIST
Olivia is our emerging stylist and brings a natural passion for the craft. She loves the creative side of hairdressing, from colouring and styling to helping clients find a look that makes them feel their best. In her spare time, she's all about quality time with family and the simple things.
HORIANA
BEAUTY THERAPIST
Horiana is our beauty therapist with over 6 years of experience and a love for all things beauty. She's dedicated to making every client leave feeling calm and confident. From brows to facial transformations, she brings skill and warmth to the Cut Above team. When she's not in the salon, you'll find her out exploring the beauty of Hawke's Bay with her family.
